Support Wisconsin Dairy Farmers

What is the Issue?

A major manufacturer notified some 74 farms that they will no longer pick-up their milk as of May 1 due to the loss of a contract. Farms are having a difficult time finding alternative processors to sell their milk to.

What can you do to help Wisconsin dairy farmers?

  • Buy Wisconsin dairy products. This helps provide a market for the milk produced by our hard-working dairy farm families. Look for the Wisconsin cheese and dairy seals on packaging.
  • Donate Wisconsin dairy products to a local food bank. Purchase five or more Wisconsin dairy products and donate them to a local food bank. This helps drive demand for dairy and supports local families in need.
  • Donate to the Great American Milk Drive. This program provides vouchers to needy families for the purchase of milk. Vouchers are distributed throughout Wisconsin through the Feeding America/Second Harvest infrastructure. Donate online at MilkLife.com/give.
  • Help spread the word. WMMB is offering sharable infographics and a temporary social media profile photo in support of Wisconsin dairy farmers on the America’s Dairyland Facebook page.

What is WMMB doing to help?

WMMB continues to aggressively promote, educate and raise awareness of Wisconsin dairy products around the country. Since the checkoff was established, Wisconsin milk production has risen 26 percent; cheese production has risen 83 percent and Americans' per capita consumption of cheese has risen 76 percent. Last year, WMMB increased by 26 percent the number of retail promotions executed with supermarkets around the country. On the foodservice side, the number of WMMB promotions went up 40 percent.
